On November 18, “Vinex Slavyantsi” celebrated the 15th anniversary of the foundation of the “Leva” Foundation with a ceremonial concert at the “Prosveta 1882” music hall in Sungurlare. With a speech by Georgi Zhekov, Bjorn Witmark, Biser Atanasov – founders and the mayor of Sungurlare municipality, Dr. Georgi Kenov, the celebratory program began, in which children from the kindergartens of Sungurlare, Slavyantsi, Chubra, Grozden and Lozarevo, students and local artists took part. With the performance of folk songs, dances, music and local customs. The “LEVA” Foundation (from the old Bulgarian language – lions, from the Swedish – life) was founded in 2008 by “Vinex Slavyantsi”, the Swedish partner “Hertz Vinimport” (with whom the Bulgarian wine producer has been working since 2000) and a representative of the Roma community in the Sungurlare region, Georgi Zhekov, Björn Witmark and Dr. Biser Atanasov. The main idea for the creation of the “LEVA” Foundation was inspired by the desire of “Vinex Slavyantsi” to change the status quo in the region of Sungurlare municipality and to support its development with “wisdom, patience and positivity for the future”. The foundation is financed solely from sales of the popular LEVA brand wines – well known and preferred in Scandinavia, Belgium and in our country. These are the so-called fair trade wines, which generate a budget of BGN 200,000 per year for social and environmental projects and to achieve sustainability in business. The company promotes education by giving scholarships for good and very good grades to the children of its workers and employees. The financial incentives cover students from 1st to 12th grade as well as university students. Thanks to the company’s social policy, children’s gardens in Sungurlare and the villages of Slavyantsi, Chubra, Grozden and Lozarevo are wonderfully furnished and free for all children. Every year the society buys textbooks for all the graduates of the school in Sungurlare, organizes school trips, finances environmental projects.
